I found my Junior High diary.
This is what's in it:

On Spring Break my Mom and Sister are going to New York City. If I got to go, then I'd go to the Theater or the Opera , go shopping, and go to the Hard Rock Cafe and all the other famous/expensive/elegant restaurants.

The Hard Rock Cafe is the height of elegance!
Thanks for this! Whenever anyone asks me for insight into why so many young playwrights seem so out of touch with the lives of their audience, I can now point them to this post. Because you know, if you're writing or eating at (as you admit) from "the Hard Rock Cafe and all the other famous/expensive/elegant restaurants," then you probably shouldn't be writing OR talking.
